Days 150-151. July 9-10

Traveled from the bottom of Welland Canal from Sugarloaf marina in Colborne Canada to Pt Erie.  It was 65 miles and seas 4-6 fr with 20 mph winds.  Stayed at Wolverine Park Marina.  Hanging out with new looper friends from Georgia, Tim and Jan.  Left this morning to Geneva State Park marina in Geneva Ohio.  Such a nice park and restaurant. Today was smooth and 50 miles. Still gorgeous water but temp was 56 degrees, I’m not even getting in!  Outside temp 72 degrees. Leaving tomorrow for Cleveland Ohio.

Day 149. July 8

Started down the Welland canal thru 8 locks and 25 miles long.  We went up 550 ft. Our captain helped as you have to have three onboard due to the way it is set up   One driver, one with rope in front and one in the back. We could only go 6 mph and it took us 8 hrs. Nice weather.  We saw the new Viking river cruise come thru the channel. It was headed to Toronto.   There were a lot of freighters but none held us up, thank goodness.

Back at Rochester!  Left this morning and traveled to the beginning of the Welland Canal.   Beautiful day at 80 degrees and water at only 70 degrees. Lake Ontario was completely flat all day. Tied up to the wall for the lock tomorrow.  Our captain will join us for the day ( Canada rules)   Lots of barges came by for the lock, the largest being 700 ft.

Day 145-147. June 13-14

The Greer’s left today and we did laundry and cleaning.  The next day we toured wineries in the finger lake region.  So much fun and a perfect sunny 72 degrees.  Ate at a cool restaurant in an old firehouse and still decorated like one. Heading home tomorrow and I dread the hot weather!  I’ve been spoiled.  Will be back on July 6 Until then, have a happy and fun 4 th of July!
